The day of departure had arrived, we loved the Masai Mara and would have loved to stay longer. Our flight was at 4pm so we still had some time to enjoy Kandili Camp and it’s surroundings. William took us for a walking safari, and it was great.

He started by showing us the skeleton heads of elephant, hippo, buffalo, gazelle & wildebeest explaining the different compositions & how they died.

We left the camp and walked up towards the ridge seeing wildebeest and zebra on the way. William spotted a pack of Hyenas up ahead and we continued toward them, there were 8-9 of them and they eyed us wearily. There is no feeling to describe approaching a pack of Hyenas on foot....the closest would be "exhilarating"!!

William explained the flora and fauna around the area of the park along with some of the smaller animals including dung beetles, butterflies, rock hyrax & green grasshoppers.

We looked out over the plains watching the grazing herds and wondering where they were heading.

We slowly walked back towards the camp after an amazing 3 hours and sat down to our final lunch with Gigi & Paco. We lost track of time and before we knew it we were running late without having packed which we scrambled to do so we didn't miss our flight. Said our quick goodbyes to the Kandili team and raced off to catch our plane back to Nairobi. We landed in Nairobi at 5pm and were greeted by Smiley who was our transit driver to Karen Camp. After a 30 minute drive and a lot of laughs we made it to Karen Camp, settled in by repacking our gear for the next day's start to our 75 day African Overland adventure from Nairobi to Cape Town via Uganda & Rwanda in the hope to find the gorillas!
