Day 70 - Sesriem Camp to Nauta Dam Bush Camp via Sossusvlei 510 km

It was an even earlier start than usual, as we had to pack up our campsite and make it the the dunes before sunrise! Heading into the Namib-Naukluft National Park it was a 60 km drive to the famous Sossusvlei Dunes. We arrived just before sunrise which is the best time to view them as the sun rises the light falls on half of the dune leaving the other half in the dark, a photographers paradise! It also helps that it is cooler in the morning as it usually get bloody hot during the day.

The time came to say goodbye to Swakopmund, we headed down the coast towards Walvis Bay and turned inland once more. We drove through the desert landscape for a few hours, and stopped at the Tropic of Capricorn and Solitaire before arriving at the Sesriem Camp late afternoon. It was the fastest we ever set up our tents to make it in time for the Rugby!

Day 68 - Sandwich Harbour

It was an exciting early start, after breakfast we grabbed our camera gear and met up with Paul, Celeste, Kieran & Liz. We were greeted by Castro (our transfer driver) who drove us the 30 minutes down the coast to Walvis Bay where we met our guide "Tollo" who was a character to say the least!
