Nairobi, We Made It!

Saying goodbye to family and friends is always the hard part, on Sunday we had a lovely get together in South West France.

Monday, 2 days before departure and still trying to figure out what to pack. I have lost count on how many times Al has unpacked, repacked and reconsidered what to take, I'm not far behind!

We will put together our packing list as we go along, we still have to figure out if what we brought along is all we need, is there something we did not pack or did we just over pack.

Nairobi's International Airport is Jomo Kenyatta, it is still under construction after the fire that gutted part of it a couple of years ago. It took us 30 minutes and $20 by taxi to Wilson Airport from Kenyatta. We had no idea how long it would take as we thought rush hour may beat us and we would miss our flight, we decided to book the later flight just in case, (we were wrong:). Waiting for yet another flight, this time with SafariLink  to Kandili Camp in the Masi Maara. This is our first stop on our adventure.

So far everyone we have met in Kenya has been very helpful and genuinely friendly which has made sitting around for the last 5 hours a little more bearable. They did try to get us on the earlier flight but due to our 80+ kg thought it might be better to wait for a plane that could actually take off! :)

Just watching our plane getting fueled....... Fortunately this was not our plane :D
