Masai Mara

After a long day we finally landed, a 45 minute flight with Safari Link from Nairobi to the Masai Mara and were greeted by Gigi & William. Gigi along with her husband Paco are the managers of Kandili Camp and friends of Ingrid's. William was our local Masi guide. After loading our very heavy bags we debated the land strip.

Gigi said lets do a little safari on our way to Kandili Camp. We were literally 3 minutes on our way when William points to something in the bushes and drives towards it. There we come across 4 lions lounging around so we observed them for the next 5-10 minutes, we carried on towards the camp and encountered Zebra (which William informed us is black with white strips for those who did not know), "Thomson" Gazelle, Baboons, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Hyenas, Pumbas (Warthogs), Topi Antelope and Mongoose. The sheer numbers were staggering and it was an amazing sight to see them all roaming in their family groups

We arrived at the Camp after a fantastic Safari, exhausted by the flights and all the new information, we were greeted by the Kandili Camp team with welcome towels and fresh Mango juice. Gigi explained a bit about the property, general safety rules ie: no wandering off by yourself at night as it is not fenced and everything roams through the Camp grounds including Elephant, Hyenas and other animals with sharp teeth :)

We were then shown to our Tent which was excellent.

We joined Gigi & Paco for sundowners & canapés overlooking the Savannah with a roaring fire pit and caught up with each other over a bottle of Malbec we bought down from France and it slowly started to rain.

After a fabulous dinner, we bid everyone an early good night as we were gearing up for an amazing day to come.....
