Day 40 Nairobi to Cape Town
Kande Beach Camp to Mabuya Camp, Lilongwe 320km

We were up at 05h00 for our early departure heading for the capital. It was a non eventful trip traveling parallel to the Lake then as we reached the outskirts of Lilongwe the Friday traffic started and it took us an extra 30-40 minutes to get into the centre where the cook groups ran off to purchase the next few days cooking ingredients. We picked up lunch and drove another kilometer and pulled in to our camp site for the night where we all pitched in for “Truck Cleaning” duties.

Gareth then gave us the news that Mozambique was off the cards due to unrest within the country and Oasis was taking the precaution of canceling that leg which meant that we would be driving through Zambia instead which worked out to be a better deal for us and as it wasn't a normal route that Gareth would take it was made even more intriguing. This meant that we would be leaving first thing in the morning as we would be covering more distance than going through Mozambique which suited us all. We then had dinner and watched the All Blacks win against a great effort from Georgia before heading to bed.
