Day 1 of a 75 day truck trip from Nairobi to Cape Town via Uganda & Rwanda.
The excitement was high and we did not know what to expect. After an early breakfast we met Gareth (Trip Leader) & Patrick (Trip Driver), finalized our documentation and met the rest of our group who are made up of Brits, Aussies, Kiwis & a Maltese.
Gareth & Patrick took us around Nahinda, The name of our truck andhome for the next 2 and a half months- Nahinda is Arabic for “Giraffe".

We left Karen Camp around 10am and headed into Karen to get fuel & provision for the next few days. As we left Nairobi and headed towards Nakuru we passed through many small villages and reached the Rift Valley which stretches all the way up to Jordan.

When we arrived at Karibuni Punda Milias Camp we were greeted by the manager Chris and given a tour of the facilities.
Patrick gave us a crash tent set up lesson after which we set up our tents for the night. Each tent has a name and we will have the same tent for the duration of the trip, our tent's name is complete.
Each evening there is a different cook group that is responsible for Dinner, Breakfast and sometimes lunch. Sara, Pete and Rowan were luck group number 1. After dinner and a couple beers we retired for the night to try and get a good nights rest as the next morning we were going on safari in Lake Nakuru National Park.
