Day 2 Nairobi to Cape Town with a detour to Uganda & Rwanda
After an amazing safari experience in the Masai Mara we were not sure what to expect at Lake Nakuru National Park. We met our safari guides (Francis & Jimmy), left the camp @ 6.30am and headed to the Lake Nakuru National Park which was a 30 minute drive.
We arrived at the Park which is patrolled by armed rangers and after the formalities of paying we were granted entry. We proceeded into the park where we were met by Zebra, Buffalo, Gazelle & Baboons.
We drove down towards the old Main gate which was flooded 3 years ago and is now disused. We spent some time taking photos of the dead trees, quite an impressive sight, before carrying on around the lake looking for the "BIG" game. It wasn't long before we were in luck. We were on our way to the flamingo colony when we spotted 4 white Rhinos grazing.

It was not the best time of year for flamingos, but we still saw a few. We then drove up to the baboons look out point to enjoy the amazing views our Lake Nakuru. On our way to lunch we saw the endangered Rothschild Giraffe and 2 male Lions sleeping before heading for a late lunch at the Lake Nakuru Lodge.

After lunch we continued on to one of the highest viewing points in the Park overlooking the lake and grazing land. After a close up encounter with 4 Great Giraffe we headed back towards our camp. We arrived back at camp to Gareth & Patrick who had been busy installing our new "fridge/safe" and tending to "Nahinda". We started cooking dinner which started off as Spaghetti Bolognaise but was turned into Noodle Bolognaise...DOH!

We then went to the restaurant to upload photos and send emails but the internet was no working so we had a nice chat with Gareth & Patrick about their adventures and what might be in store for us on this trip.
